Our Story
Our journey has been anything but ordinary.
Through every step, we've focused on staying true to our values and making space for thoughtful, lasting memories.
Welcome to The Black Socialite Sorority.
Who We Are
sorority
noun
so·ror·i·ty sə-ˈrȯr-ə-tē
-ˈrär-
plural: sororities
: a club or society of women traditionally in Higher Education
ORIGIN: From the Latin soror meaning ‘sister’
We are inspired by the strong & vibrant nature of sororities in African-American College culture.
Cultivating lifelong bonds, intentional support and positive growth for individuals and the wider community.
We wanted to bring a similar sense of sisterhood to the UK; bringing together Black women from all walks of life, helping each other thrive, and building the start of a real legacy.
Each of our events will always fall into one of our 6 Pledges to achieve this;
Health, Beauty & Wellness
Focus on caring for your body, mind, and soul. This includes activities and experiences that support physical health, beauty, self-care, and overall wellbeing— helping you feel good inside and out
Professional Growth
Designed to support your career, skills, and ambitions. This pledge covers learning, networking, confidence-building, and exposure to opportunities that help you grow professionally at your own pace
Giving Back
A commitment to duty, service, and community impact. This pledge involves charitable initiatives, volunteering opportunities, and collective acts of giving that allow us to support causes bigger than ourselves
Social Season
All about connection, joy, and shared experiences. This pledge includes social outings, dinners, parties, celebrations, and premium events that help build social capital and create memorable moments together
Rest & Retreat
This pledge prioritises taking a pause, balance, and slowing down. It includes calming slow experiences that encourage relaxation, reflection, and intentional downtime— without pressure or productivity demandsArts & Culture
A celebration of creativity, cultural heritage, and expression. This pledge covers art, music, theatre, museums, and exploration that inspire curiosity and appreciation.
Founder’s Note
Ama
President & Founder, The BSS Club est. 2024
Hello Sorority sister, (or soon to be!)
First of all, welcome to our new Club- The BSS (Black Socialite Sorority). I am very excited to see so many of you join and can't wait to make wonderful memories with each one of you soon.
My name is Pippa Ama Karikari, but I go by Ama for short. I’m a Londoner born and bred of Ghanaian & Malian descent. Ever since becoming an adult in such a huge and diverse city, I’ve enjoyed attending events, meetups, networks & groups but always felt like a special touch was missing. I found myself craving experiences with women like me that were more intimate, intentional, dynamic, and most importantly— built a bond that lasted beyond a single event.
Since launching The BSS in 2024, we have seen such overwhelmingly positive feedback from our early members (achieving a 4.9 star rating during our 1st year). Many of whom shared similar experiences to myself, often socialising in London, but not in a way that fulfilled or inspired them— until they found us.
We created this Sorority as I have always wanted to see a well-rounded and high-calibre platform for Black women to enjoy 'once in a lifetime' experiences, have social & professional benefits and a long-lasting support for generations to come.
It is my goal, with your continued support, that our Club continues to fulfil that promise and then some.
It’s time for us to Live Fully.
Please feel free to message me anytime with your comments, questions or ideas as we continue to build our revolutionary community together.
See you soon,
Ama X
What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.
What sets us apart isn’t just our process— it’s the intention behind it.
We take time to understand, explore, and deliver with quality at every turn.
“I’ve never done a meetup like this before. You really care about all of us having a good time.”
