The BSS stands for ‘The Black Socialite Sorority’. We are a new generation Sorority Club- the first of its kind in the UK.

In a nutshell, we are a curated social platform and private membership community for Black women in London. Our aim is to foster long-term meaningful connections, joy, growth, and sisterhood through intentional experiences and values.

This is a cultural safe space designed to strictly uplift and centre members from the Black African/Caribbean descent community.

No, this is an inclusive space for all ages who bond based on shared values, culture & interests.

Our members typically range from late 20s to 50s, but there is no upper age limit. We welcome women at all life stages.

We ask that our members be at least 21 years old due to the nature of some of our events.

This club is London-focused where most events will take place in or around London.

Members are able to join from anywhere, but will need to bear this in mind if they wish to join the Sorority.

This is a short set of entry questions to ensure alignment with the Club’s values. Please ensure you answer all questions fully so we can get to know you before joining our club.

After approval of your questionnaire, you will begin your 1-month free trial to access our events. When your trial ends & you decide to become an Official BSS Member, you will be sent a link to register your details.

Yes. We intentionally maintain a limited quantity to preserve the status, intimacy, and experience of the Club.

Once we reach our capacity, new applicants will be placed on a waiting list. Waiting list members will be notified via email and offered a place if and when spaces become available again.

Pledges are six key areas of interest that members select when they join the Sorority. They are simply a way of expressing your commitment to an area that you hope to improve on during your time with us.

Every event we host is tailored to support at least one Pledge area— helping you move closer towards achieving your life goals in an effortless, easy way.

If you are a Founding Member (joining in 2026), membership will include all of the benefits listed above in the Experiences, Community & Perks sections. Your membership fee is set at a fixed lifetime rate— a small token of gratitude for being an early member.

If you are a LILAC Deluxe member (available from 2027), your membership includes all that are listed in the Founding tier above, as well as newer exclusive perks (TBA) that will be added to your membership every year.

Our free trial is designed to give you a feel for the Club before committing. During the trial, you’ll have access to attend our events, meet members and the opportunity to explore our private Meetup Club space.

The free trial does not include access to any other member perks, benefits, or features beyond the events.

As a special free trial perk, you are welcome to bring one guest (Black descent female over 21) to events while on trial. Please note that this guest privilege is exclusive to trial members only and is not available to paid members.

Definitely. You can upgrade to a LILAC Deluxe membership anytime after we launch this tier. However, once you are a Deluxe member you are unable to downgrade back to being a Founding Member.

Memberships are flexible and can be cancelled at any time from your Meetup account. You’ll retain access through the end of your current billing cycle.

You are welcome to re-join again in the future if there are spaces available under the LILAC Deluxe membership tier.

Our events are paid activities where members must cover their ticket or participation/travel costs.

We always aim to keep experiences valuable, accessible and clearly communicated. Extra perks & benefits of our events e.g. coordination, hosting, advance bookings, reservations, decoration, cards & gifts are already included in your membership costs.

No, attendance is flexible as we aim to host at least 7 events throughout the year. Members are actively encouraged to join as often as they can, depending on their schedule, energy, and interests.

We do however ask that members always give accurate RSVPs and update us as soon as they can no longer attend an event.

Unhosted events are a part of our ‘Discovery Series’, bringing you casual, self-led, solo events where members attend without a formal host or schedule. They are designed to be low-pressure, relaxed, and help you easily discover new things to do around the UK.

Guests (Plus 1 max. 21+ & Black descent female) are permitted for members who are still on a free trial and must be added in your RSVP.

Otherwise, events are reserved exclusively for members. This helps us protect the integrity of the community, maintain safety, and ensure the experience remains intentional and aligned with our values.

Members who bring unauthorised guests may risk losing membership.
